More Than Anatomy is a learning platform I created to help yoga students and teachers bridge the gap between traditional yoga and modern anatomical understanding. I’m Dr. Rob Lamport — a chiropractor and long-time yoga practitioner with over 25 years of experience — and my goal is to go beyond memorising muscles and bones to focus on how the body truly functions in movement, breath, and practice.
At the heart of this work is a simple belief: anatomy only becomes meaningful when it helps us understand function — how the body moves, compensates, heals, and adapts. In my courses, we explore the body not in isolated parts, but as an integrated whole — where structure, breath, the nervous system, and other systems all work together. This approach is especially useful for preventing and recovering from injury and for applying yoga therapeutically to support lifelong practice.
Rooted in classical yoga and informed by modern research, More Than Anatomy offers practical, accessible courses that help yoga teachers and students feel more confident, capable, and curious in their understanding of the body — so they can teach and practise in a way that supports both healing and growth.
My wife Tara and I both honour the ancient wisdom of yoga, blending tradition with real-world experience. Together, we’ve created thoughtful programs designed to deepen your practice and your understanding of the body, mind, and breath.

Hi, I’m Dr Rob — a Gonstead Chiropractor and yoga practitioner with over 25 years of experience helping people achieve better health. I’ve been practising yoga since 1997, and it’s been a central part of my life.
My yoga journey began in my late teens when back problems interrupted my plans for a professional golf career. What started as a way to heal became a lifelong passion — leading me to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, specialising in the Gonstead system, and to develop a daily yoga practice that continues today.
For many years, I lived and worked in Mysore, India, where I ran the Mysore Gonstead Chiropractic Clinic, supporting the local and international yoga community. These days, I’m based in Farnborough, UK, where I continue to offer chiropractic care at Specific Chiropractic.
More Than Anatomy was born from my desire to bridge the gap between scientific understanding and traditional yoga practice — to make anatomy practical, meaningful, and connected to the real-life practice of yoga.
When I’m not working, I live a quiet life in the beautiful Hampshire countryside with my fantastic wife, Tara Mitra, and our rescue dogs, Chintu and Mia. I love to spend time in nature, keep up my daily pranayama practice, and experiment in the kitchen, closely watched by Chintu and Mia in case any food falls from the counter.
